Dogsthorpe Crossing – 1962

Here’s a rare view of the M & GN railway at Dogsthorpe Crossing, 1962. The houses that can be seen are still there today and are part of Welland Road/Furze Ride. There is now a pathway to the left of the track that leads to Paston and Bluebell. Harebell Close is now situated to the very left side of the photograph. The grain silo in the distance still exists today but the Paston Parkway now separates that from the houses – they are not as close together as they appear to look in the photo. The London Brick Company chimneys were demolished around 1991 – I was lucky enough to witness the demolition of them!

As with most of our photographs, clicking on them will show a larger version.
