The history of what most of us refer to as 'Baker Perkins' is very extensive and very interesting. In fact, this small collection of photos do not tell the complete story. It is virtually impossible to be brief with a history such as extensive as this very well known company. During the late 1980s Baker Perkins was merged with another company and they were then known as APV Baker. Recently, the company recently became Baker Perkins again. Before the Westwood Works closed its doors, the company was relocated to a new site just off the Paston Parkway in Peterborough. Luckily, a website has been created which is devoted to preserve the history of the Westwood Works. I can thoroughly recommend to anyone who is interested in local history to visit their website which can be found by clicking the following link: www.westwoodworks.net
Even if you are not that interested in local history, it's still worth a visit. Make sure you have a few hours spare, there is a lot of content on the site!
Thank you to Dick Preston of www.westwoodworks.net for allowing Peterborough In Pictures to display the majority of the photos on this page.
Thank you to Marion Brown for sending us the two photos of the Great Fire of Westwood Works.
