Wirrina To Be Demolished
The Wirrina at Bishops Road, close to the city centre is set to be demolished this saturday, 9th October. The building opened in 1963 and has been home to many different kinds of entertainment such as roller skating, music concerts and indoor football. But over the past couple of decades the state of the building has declined and it’s grounds have been the home to car boot sales and car parking facilities.  Peterborough City Council have deemed the building unsafe which has led to the decision to demolish it. It has been suggested that the site could become home to a new car park which will be a shame for the local residents and the city as a whole. Hopefully, PCC will see fit to replace the Wirrina with something a little more interesting than a car park.
