Walton Community School, Peterborough - Vacating The Site

The doors of Walton Community School closed on students for the very last time on 13th July 2007. During the next week staff were busy emptying classrooms and removal teams were taking items away for storage. I was lucky enough to be allowed on site on the last day of vacating the building (Friday 20th July 2007). It was quite a strange experience because I attended the open day 2 weeks previous when the building was 'still alive'. Now, it was kind of creepy as some rooms were empty, windows boarded up and no light in some areas. Corridors were covered in emotional and sometimes amusing messages, slogans, etc. from students and staff...

I managed to take approximately 70 photographs and a small selection are displayed below. I may update the page with more photographs at a later date.

Please note: there are 28 photographs displayed below, so the page could take some time to load on slow internet connections.

Most of the classrooms still had tables & chairs in them, but things like computers, noticeboards, books, etc. had been taken out or stacked up in a corner.
