About Peterborough In Pictures
I've had an interest in local history for most of my life and find looking at old photographs of the area fascinating. Before starting Peterborough In Pictures, I spent a while scouring the Internet for old photographs of the area but apart from the odd photos here and there, I can safely say there was not a great deal available to view. So, that's when the idea for this website started. I have no intention of ever charging visitors to view photographs on this website. However, I do require the help of the public. There must be thousands of people in the Peterborough area that have boxes of old photographs in their lofts. Wouldn't it be good if they were willing to share those photographs so other members of the public can view them and reminisce? I often scour eBay and local car boot sales for items to put on the website. It is good fun looking for new stuff and sometimes the odd gem does turn up!
I also enjoy taking photographs myself and you may come across some of my own in the gallery. I treated myself to a an Olympus E500 digital SLR camera a couple of years ago and I have found it to be a fantastic tool.
Peterborough In Pictures has gone through a couple of minor changes since starting in 2007. The new addition of the gallery software has made a big difference as it enables me to upload photographs much quicker than ever before. I am sure Peterborough In Pictures may go through other minor changes in the future as I plan to keep this site active for a very long time so future Peterboroians can see how the area used to look.
